Fr. Griesbach was born in Spokane, Washington, but moved back to Maine as an infant and grew up in Lisbon Falls. He earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, before spending a year teaching religion at St. Dominic Regional High School. Fr. Griesbach studied for the priesthood at the Pontifical North American College in Rome and was ordained to the priesthood on June 29, 2007, at the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul in Lewiston. After his ordination, Fr. Griesbach returned to Rome to complete a degree in sacramental theology. He holds a bachelor's in sacred theology and a licentiate degree in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University.
In August of 2008, Fr. Griesbach was appointed as parochial vicar at St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Bangor, where he served for five years before being named parochial vicar at St. Michael Parish in Augusta in 2013. In July of 2014, he was appointed Director of Vocations and Chaplain at Saint Dominic Academy in Lewiston/Auburn, serving in this assignment for seven years. In the spring of 2021, Bishop Deeley appointed Fr. Griesbach Rector of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Pastor of the Portland Peninsula and Island Parishes, effective July 30.
