We are now accepting new and used book donations. We count on generous donations to serve many children and youth in Portland and the greater Portland area. Below you will find an Amazon Wishlist button with book titles we are requesting for the library. Book donations are not limited to these titles, but we are looking for books related to the Catholic faith. Local stores, such as the Abbey in Scarborough also have a great selection of books. Some other Catholic book websites include TAN, Sophia Press, and Ignatius Press. Please reach out if you have any questions about book donations.
The library is under the patronage of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, a Catholic religious sister and educator. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton was born in NY in 1774. She married and had five children before the death of her husband. She converted to Catholicism in 1805, two years after his death. She would go on to establish the first Catholic girls' school in the U.S and founded the first American congregation of religious sisters, the Sisters of Charity.
There is a relic of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in the altar of our Cathedral.Monetary donations or donations of other supplies are greatly appreciated. Please follow the button to the left to learn more about donating to the library.
